Cincinnati Tristate AORN Chapter 3601
Call to Order
Priscilla Moeller called the meeting to order at 7:13 p.m. in Classroom #4 at The Christ Hospital.
Secretary’s Report
The minutes from the May 10, 2011 meeting were approved as corrected.
Treasurer’s Report
Donna Schlemmer reported a checking account balance of $4, 237.10, and a savings account balance of $13,043.97.
National Correspondence
Priscilla reported that she would be attending the Leadership Workshop in Denver this summer.
Priscilla stated that the Ohio Board of Nursing is discussing requiring all AD and Diploma RN‘s to obtain a BSN within 10 years of graduation from the initial schooling.
She stated that violence against nurses is now considered a felony offense.
She reminded the members present that support of Ohio’s HB 149 (RN Circulator bill) is still needed.
Committee Reports
Program Linda Dreeszen reported that the topic for the September meeting was still being worked on. She stated that the October meeting is the annual combined CAPANA/AORN meeting, and it was CAPANA’s turn to host it.
Refreshments
A sign-up sheet is being passed around for bringing refreshments to the September meeting.
Ways & Means
Linda Keiser distributed the bulb fundraiser catalogs. She stated that the orders would be due at the September meeting, with delivery in early October.
She said that the pocket calendars would be ordered in August, for distribution at the November meeting, to honor periOperative Nurses week.
Linda reported that the Holiday Raffle for $300 would begin in September. The chances will sell for $3/ticket, or 4 tickets/$10. The drawing for the monies will be on November 8, 2011 meeting.
Rick Goedde was not present to report on the Golf outing.
Membership
Priscilla stated that a chairperson was needed for the membership committee. Amy Barton volunteered. Amy charged the members present to bring a guest to the next chapter meeting.
Old Business
Priscilla reported that the BOD decided not to purchase a laptop computer, as charged at the last chapter meeting. Ruth Eyerman has volunteered to obtain a backup laptop, compatible with TCH Classroom #4, from the educational department at The Christ for each chapter meeting.
New Business
Priscilla stated that the Chapter’s community service for the summer will be to collect personal size toiletries from hotels during vacation travel. The items will be collected at the September meeting and given to Tender Mercies Inc, which is a shelter for mentally challenged individuals.
Ruth Eyerman volunteered to investigate a possible perioperative Nurses week activity at the Cincinnati Sports Club in November.
Announcements
The next Ohio Council meeting will be on September 10, 2011, at the Hunan House in Columbus.
The next Chapter meeting will be on September 13, 2011 in Classroom #4 at The Christ Hospital.
The next Board of Directors meeting will be on September 20, 2011 at O’Charley’s TriCounty (11315 Princeton Road).
The split-the-pot raffle, for $13, was won by Nelda Chandler.
Educational Raffle
The June Educational Raffle was won by Linda Keiser
