Call to Order
Melissa Backscheider called the meeting to order at 7:47 p.m. in The Christ Hospital Classroom #4.
Secretary’s Report
The minutes from the November 9, 2010 were approved as corrected. The January meeting had been cancelled due to inclement weather.
Treasurer’s Report
Nancy Hellman reported a checking account balance of
$3,596.82 and a savings account balance of $18,041.79.
Nancy stated that the Financial Report for 2010, as well as the proposed budget for 2011 had been presented to and approved by the Board of Directors.
National Correspondence
Melissa Backscheider reported that the Chapter had received
thank you letters from the AORN Foundation and from the Cincinnati Free Store, for the monetary donations that were made in December 2011.
Melissa announced that there were some on upcoming free webinars available from National. The topics will include: Hand Hygiene, Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis, View the entire Evidence-based, and IOM Report on Future of Nursing.
Committee Reports
Program: Pricilla Moeller reported that the educational topic for the March meeting would be “Advanced Limb Salvage” and would be presented by Dr. Dominic Rizzo. The topic for the April meeting had not been decided as of yet. The cancelled January topic and speaker will be tentatively re-scheduled for May or June.
Ways & Means: Melissa Backscheider reported that the Chapter had earned $120.00 from the jewelry fundraiser.
Rick Goedde stated that he needed help from the membership to obtain door prizes for the upcoming Golf Outing.
Ruth Eyerman, on behalf of Linda Keiser, proposed an idea for using a cash raffle as a potential fundraiser. It was decided by the members present, to think about how to set up the raffle.
Nominating: Donna Schlemmer stated that volunteers were needed to run for the following Chapter offices: President-elect, Nominating Committee (2 needed), Board of Directors (3 needed) and Treasurer.
By-Laws:Susan Bacher presented the proposed changes to the Chapter’s Bylaws. She stated that the changes were primarily to align the Chapter’s Bylaws with National Bylaws. She passed out copies of the current and proposed changes to the members present. She stated that she would send an electronic copy to Lois Belton, to give the Chapter’s Webmaster, for posting on the Chapter’s website.
Old Business
Melissa Backscheider 1-year planners had come in after the November meeting. There were 100 calendars to distribute to any members that desired them.
Ruth Eyerman was going to check with Gayle Ruff to be sure that Classroom #4 was booked for the remaining 2011 Chapter meetings.
New Business
Melissa stated that the delegates to Congress 2011 will be Lois Belton, Priscilla Moeller, Susan Bacher, Linda Rulon, Linda Dreeszen, Nelda Chandler and herself. Nelda volunteered to collect the monies for registration to take advantage of Early Bird Registration.
Melissa questioned the members if anyone had heard of Healthpak.net. The members present agreed that this may be something to find out more information about.
Announcements
Melissa Backscheider stated that the Ohio Council delegate meeting will be on February 26.
She reported that the next BOD meeting will be on March 1 at the Tri-County Ruby Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m., while the next Chapter meeting will be on March 8.
She reminded the members that the AORN 2011 Congress will be March 18-24, with the Ohio Council meeting will be on Tuesday, March 22, at 7 p.m.
Educational Raffle
The February Educational Raffle was won by Susan Brown.
