MINUTES – January 12th 2010Cincinnati Tristate AORN Chapter 3601

Call to Order
Linda Rulon called the meeting to order at 7:52 p.m. in the Twin Oaks Classroom at Bethesda Oak Hospital.

Secretary’s Report
The minutes from the November 10, 2009 meeting were approved as reviewed.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Nancy Hellman reported a checking balance of $4, 665.81 and a savings balance of $18,028.80. She gave a summary of a conference call of various AORN chapter treasurers with Deb Warren from National regarding the duties and responsibilities of a chapter treasurer.

 

National Correspondence
Linda reported that Ohio Council Dues were due by the February Ohio Council meeting.

Linda announced that the Delegates to Congress 2010, in Denver, CO, are: Linda Rulon, Lois Belton, Nelda Chandler, Susan Bacher and Priscilla Moeller. The delegates needed to get their completed registration forms and monies to Lois Belton by Friday, January 15, 2010.

 

Committee Reports
Program Melissa Backscheider stated the speaker and topic for the February meeting had not been finalized. She will get the information to Kathy Wolfer as soon as the details are worked out so that the flyers can be distributed.

 

She announced that the March meeting topic will be on self-defense techniques to be taught by representatives from the Hamilton County Sheriffs Department.

Melissa stated that the April and May topics and speakers are still being worked on, but the June Meeting will be at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, through Lois Belton.

Workshop
Melissa Backscheider reported that the workshop in November, earned approximately $1,000 dollars.

Ways & Means
Rick Goedde reported that the Golf Outing raised $475. He is willing to chair the next outing in June 2010. He asked that each member try to get a door prize for local businesses, since medical companies can no longer donate door prizes.

Lynn Miller reported that the Chapter will sell Entertainment Books again in the fall. She asked for ideas for other types of fundraisers.

 

Membership
Lois Belton reported that there are currently 258 Chapter members.

 

Refreshments
Priscilla stated that there was a sign-up sheet going around the room for bringing refreshments.

 

Old Business
Several members reported that they have not received the CEU from the September meeting as of yet. Melissa Backscheider said she would look into the matter.

 

New Business
No new business items were presented

 

Announcements
Linda Rulon reported that the next Ohio Council Meeting will be on February 20, 2010, but the site is TBA. All Chapter delegates should attend this meeting.

It was announced that the Ohio Council Luncheon, at Congress, would be a Bubba Gumps Restaurant in Denver, CO.

The next Chapter BOD meeting will be on March 23, 2010, and the meeting site is still being worked on.

The Greater Cleveland Chapter is having a seminar on April 24 regarding Healthcare Reform, with Patrick Voight and Rebecca Patton as speakers. Further information can be obtained from their website: chapekp1spontone@ccf.org.

 

Educational Raffle
Susan Brown won the Monthly Educational Raffle.
