MINUTES – March 9th 2010Cincinnati Tristate AORN Chapter 3601

Call to Order
Linda Rulon called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. in the Medical Education Conference Center #4 at Good Samaritan Hospital. The business meeting began early, because the speakers were absent.

Secretary’s Report
The minutes from the January 12, 2010 meeting were approved as reviewed. The February 9, 2010 Chapter meeting had been cancelled due to inclement weather.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Nancy Hellman reported a checking balance of $4, 103.63 and a savings balance of $18,031.86. The 2009 Financial Report was accepted, and the Board of Directors approved 2010 proposed Budget was presented to the membership.

 

National Correspondence
Linda reported that the Delegates to Congress 2010, in Denver, CO, are: Linda Rulon, Lois Belton, Nelda Chandler, Susan Bacher and Priscilla Moeller.

 

Committee Reports
Program Kathy Wolfer reported, on behalf of Melissa Backscheider, that the April meeting will feature Karen Girr, CNM, speaking on “Challenging Prenatal Management of the Fetus with Structural Anomalies, while the May meeting topic will be presented by Dr. David Schwartz speaking on “Advanced Hysteroscopic Procedures”.
Concerns were raised about the current meeting location and room. It was explained that the classroom at Bethesda Oak was not available. Other concerns were related to room size and the difficulty in locating the room. It was suggested that classroom availability at The Christ Hospital be explored. Gail Ruff will pursue room availability at The Christ Hospital. Kathy Wolfer suggested that the meeting place not be changed until the May meeting, since the flyers for the April meeting had already been sent out.

Ways & Means
Linda Keiser questioned the membership if they were still interested in continuing in selling of Entertainment books, as a fund raiser for the Chapter. The membership expressed interest in continuing with this pursuit.


Rick Goedde announced that the Annual Golf Outing will be on June 19, 2010, at the Pebble Creek Golf Course. Flyers for the outing were available for those who are interested. He reminded the membership, that the more golfers that participated, the higher the profit for the Chapter. He stated he really needed door prizes, since these items were not available from company sales representatives. He suggested that each member take on the responsibility of obtaining door prizes from local businesses for the event.


Linda Keiser presented several ideas to pursue for fund raisers. The idea of being a paid volunteer group at the Flying Pig Marathon in 2011 will be investigated. Other ideas that will be pursued include pocket calendars, flower bulbs, and Yankee Candles.

Refreshments
Priscilla stated that there was a sign-up sheet going around the room for bringing refreshments.

 

Old Business
Linda Rulon reported that the Ohio Council dues had been paid.

New Business
Issues that would be brought up at Congress were discussed by the membership. These issues were one-member/one-vote, and the possibility of an annual dues increase on the national level.

 

Announcements
The next Chapter BOD meeting will be on at 5:30 on March 23, 2010, and the meeting site at Ruby Tuesdays in the Tri-County Mall. The next Chapter meeting will be on April 13, 2010.

Educational Raffle
Donna Schlemmer won the Monthly Educational Raffle. Kathy Wolfer won the Split-the-Pot of $26.
