MINUTES – September 13th 2011Cincinnati Tristate AORN Chapter 3601

Call to Order
Melissa Backscheider called the meeting to order at 7:13 p.m. in Classroom #4 at The Christ Hospital.

 

Secretary’s Report
The minutes from the June 14, 2011 meeting were approved as read.

 

Treasurer’s Report
Donna Schlemmer reported a checking account balance of $6,478.96 and a savings account balance of $13,049.91.

 

National Correspondence
Priscilla reported that the Chapter can have 9 delegates at Congress next year.

 

Ohio Council News
Priscilla stated that the individual dues for Ohio Council will be raised to $20 per individual.  She also reported that the number of Ohio Council meetings changed from 4 meetings per year to 3 meetings per year (one before Congress, June and October). She stated that Ohio Nurses Day will be on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Ohio Statehouse.

 

Committee Reports

Program

Linda Dreeszen reported that the topic for the October meeting topic will be “Fluids and Resuscitation”, with Dr. Johannigman presenting.  She stated that the November meeting will feature Dr. Donovon speaking on Laparoscopic Hernia repair.

 Kathy Wolfer reported that she has been in contact with the CAPANA president and the meeting will be on Tuesday, October, 18, 2011.  She will double check this date with the CAPANA president.  

Refreshments
Priscilla reported that no refreshments were needed for the October meeting, since they would be provided by the CAPANA chapter. There would be a sign-up sheet available at the October meeting for refreshment sign-up for the November meeting.

Ways and Means
Linda Keiser collected the order for the bulb fundraiser.
She stated that the pocket calendars have been ordered and should be ready for distribution at the November meeting, to honor periOperative Nurses week.
Linda collected monies for the Holiday Raffle. She stated that the chances are $3/ticket, or 4 tickets/$10, and the drawing for the monies will be on November 8, 2011 meeting.

Rick Goedde thanked everyone for their help at the annual Golf Outing.  It is estimated that the profit is about $929, with $225 going to the Free Store, and $225 to Chiari Foundation.

Legislation
Lois Belton was not present.

Membership
Amy Barton reported that, as of today, there are 259 chapter members. 

 

Old Business
Priscilla reported that she attended the Leadership Workshop in late June, and enjoyed it very much.  She stated that she will submit her receipts to Donna.

 

Linda Keiser volunteered to deliver the collected toiletries to Tender Mercies, Inc

 

New Business
Election of Chapter Offices
The slate of candidates was read to the membership. Melissa asked, three times, for any nominations from the floor, and none were offered. The ballots were distributed; the members voted, and the votes were counted. The results Linda Rulon and Susan Brown were elected to serve on the Nominating Committee, with Linda Rulon to serve as Committee Chair in 2012-13. Nelda Chandler, Jeannie Kiser, and Karen Thompson were elected to the Board of Directors. Donna Schlemmer was elected as Chapter Treasurer, and Linda Dreeszen was elected as President-Elect. The motion was made and carried that the ballots be destroyed.

 

Installation of Officers
Lois Belton performed the Installation of Officers ceremony, which included Priscilla Moeller as President, Kathy Wolfer (continuing as secretary), and Susan Bacher and Ruth Eyerman continuing on the Board of Directors. Melissa Backscheider passed on the Chapter gavel to Priscilla Moeller.

 

Announcements
Priscilla announced that the next Ohio Council meeting will be on December 10, 2011, at the Hunan House in Columbus.

 

She stated that the next Chapter meeting will be on October 18, 2011 in Classroom #1 & 2 at The Christ Hospital.

 

The next Board of Directors meeting will be on September 20, 2011 at O’Charley’s TriCounty (11315 Princeton Road).

 

Educational Raffle
The September Educational Raffle was won by Donna Schlemmer.

 

Adjournment
Priscilla adjourned the meeting at 8:20 p.m.
